Tip 2: Prevent a cybercrime theft

Be aware of and prevent email based funds transfer frauds.

If you are sending or receiving funds, such as a bank wire, you must verbally confirm the funds transfer instructions.

This means after you receive an email with instructions on where to send money, you must have a phone conversation with the person who sent you those instructions.

Confirm who that person is really. Confirm where the funds are supposed to go.

This cybercrime is sometimes called "business email compromise" or "CEO fraud".
