This chapter provides some basics about technology, which is needed to properly understand cyberlaw.

Cyber is essentially technology, so we need to know something about computers, data, and networks.

  • Name the main computer parts
  • Identify your local (private) IP address on your local network
  • Find your public IP address
  • Is your "public IP address" visible to a website different based on which web browser you use? (e.g., Chrome)
  • Find the public IP address for a website you trust and use a lot, and see if using that IP address in the address line will take you there.
  • Identify your computer’s make, model, operating system, hard drive type, storage space on the hard drive, RAM space
