John Bandler will present this CLE in October 2026 at Pace University's Law School (the Elisabeth Haub School of Law) relating to artificial intelligence (AI) and the law, and the many risks and rewards it brings. They are holding a conference on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Introduction and description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents risks and rewards for many facets of our world. Lawyers can start viewing these risks through the lens of law, legal practice, and legal education, but we should also consider additional categories and the comprehensive view.
AI is the latest cyber tool to bombard both the news cycles and our psyches, presenting many issues. It perplexes many and the confusion is aided by abundant hype, marketing puffery, self-interests, misinformation, and misrepresentations.
Lawyers (and law students) need to take measures to ensure their knowledge, skills, learning, and work outputs are not damaged by improper use of AI tools.
Educators need to ensure they fulfill their mission to educate and develop future generations in a positive manner, and that their underlying decision-making process for weighing AI risks and rewards is ethical, reasonable, and defensible. This means resisting and disavowing improper decision factors.
Issues with AI extend past law, learning, and education into technology, business, national security, psychology, and democracy. A democratic nation of laws cannot ignore the comprehensive societal issues that AI brings. In such a country, the profession of lawyers hold a special role as protectors and explainers of law and what it should be. To properly suggest the evolutionary path for overlapping areas of AI, law, and democracy we need to first thoughtfully assess and weigh the full range of risks and rewards.
